Route to (the Ice Cream Parlour and The Stables Restaurant)

  • Exit the Visitor Reception and follow the main path across the bridge.
    Following the accessible route to the Hall, turn left once at the Hall Archway and the Stables Building will be ahead.
    The Ice Cream Parlour and The Stables Restaurant is at the rear of the Stables Building.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance (Ice Cream Parlour and The Stables Restaurant Shared Entrance)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the side of the Stables building.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 116cm.

Lift

  • A member of staff does not need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are G, 1.
  • Externally the lift has: controls at a suitable height for a wheelchair user, Braille markings, buttons with a low colour contrast to the surroundings and a door with a low colour contrast to the surroundings.
  • The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
  • The lift door opening width is 80cm.
  • The dimensions of the lift are 110cm x 150cm.
  • Internally the lift has: controls at a suitable height for a wheelchair user, tactile markings, buttons with a medium colour contrast to the surroundings, a visual floor indicator, Braille markings and a mirror to aid reversing.

Toilet with Adaptations (Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located on the first floor of the Stables building.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 5m from the lift.
  • There is tactile and pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 100cm.
  • The door has a locking handle (with a RADAR key to access).
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 154cm x 200cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is not a lateral transfer space next to the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 46cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a restaurant which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is full table service and a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: handheld menus, written wall menus, menu boards and counter menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups and takeaway cutlery.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
