Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: fidget toys.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (Garden)

  • After exiting visitor reception, turn right and follow the path until you see the Tea Garden.
    At the Tea Garden turn right and go through the gap into the courtyard.
    Go straight on and the entrance to the garden will be located on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance (Accessible Entrance)

  • The entrance surveyed is located to the right of the stepped/ramped garden entrance.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a single manual door which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 107cm.
  • There is a second manual door which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 98cm.

Outdoor Spaces (Gardens)

  • This information is for the access point located on the right after passing through the courtyard.
  • Access into the area is via steps and a steep ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
  • The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with a handrail on the right going up.
  • There are 6 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The access point is already on National Trust land from the National Trust owned land.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: gardens.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: an adventure playground.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
  • There are slight slopes on the main pathway facing the house and just after exiting the house tour.
