  • At this location the following areas are free to access for National Trust members but payable for everyone else: Fountains Abbey, Fountains Mill, Fountains Hall, Studley Royal Car Park and Studley Royal Water Garden.
  • This site does not offer companion or carer discounts.

Public Transport

Parking (Car Park A)

  • This site has a car park.
  • The vehicle route from the main road to the car park includes: uneven surfaces.
  • This is an open air car park with a compacted gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for all users.
  • Maps and information boards are not available.
  • There are more than 10 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The nearest Blue Badge bay is 75m from the visitor centre courtyard area access point.
  • Obstacles from the car park include: uneven surfaces, slopes/ramps, bollards with low colour contrast and no visual identification band and a lack of pedestrian walkways to cross the car park.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.

Route to (the Visitor Centre from Car Park A)

  • From the car park follow the signs for the visitor centre, a distance of approximately 60 metres.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
  • Visitors can board an accessible shuttle to the visitor centre from Westgate.

Parking (Car Park B)

  • This site has a car park.
  • The vehicle route from the main road to the car park includes: uneven surfaces.
  • This is an open air car park with a compacted gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for all users.
  • Maps and information boards are not available.
  • There are no Blue Badge parking bays available.

  • There is no electric vehicle charging point designated for Blue Badge holders.

  • The electrical vehicle charging points are free to use, however, there is a sign asking for a minimum donation of £2.

Route to (the Visitor Centre from Car Park B)

  • From the car park follow the signs for the visitor centre, a distance of approximately 100 metres.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow (Visitor Centre)

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, activity sheets and soft toy.
  • You can borrow these from the visitor centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • The wheelchair is only available for use around the visitor area.
    All electric scooters and tramplers are loaned from the Westgate reception.
    An accessible shuttle can be used to transport visitors to certain areas.

Visitor Reception (Tickets and Information)

  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • The door is automatic, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 141cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the area.
  • Some of the flooring is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.

  • The height of the counter is 103cm.

  • This toilet is approximately 1m from the toilet block entrance.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
