  • At this location the following are free to access for all visitors: Studley Royal Tea Room, Deer Park, Visitor Centre Car Parks A and B, Visitor Centre Restaurant, Visitor Centre Shop, Visitor Centre Toilets, St Mary's Church and Westgate.
  • At this location the following areas are free to access for National Trust members but payable for everyone else: Fountains Abbey, Fountains Mill, Fountains Hall, Studley Royal Car Park and Studley Royal Water Garden.
  • This site does not offer companion or carer discounts.

Public Transport

Parking

  • This site has a car park.
  • This is an open air car park with a tarmac and compacted gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for all users.
  • Maps and information boards are available.
  • There are more than 30 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The nearest Blue Badge bay is 50m from the ticket office.
  • Obstacles from the car park include: a lack of pedestrian walkways to cross the car park, uneven surfaces, a road crossing and slopes/ramps.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.

Route to (Ticket Office from the Car Park)

  • From the car park turn left and proceed across the road. There is no pathway here.
    The ticket office is approximately 50 metres from the car park entrance.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow (Westgate)

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, soft toy and accessible maps.

  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: trampers and mobility scooters. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Visitor Reception (Westgate)

  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the area.
  • All flooring is smooth and even.
  • There is step-free access via slope to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 83cm.
  • The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
  • Services/facilities available include: a portable card machine for payment and a member of staff to provide assistance.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.

Entrance (Westgate Toilet Block - Toilets with Adaptations and Parent and Baby Room / Breastfeeding Room)

  • The entrance surveyed is located next to Fountains Hall.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The steep slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 98cm.
  • There is a second manual door which opens by sliding.

Toilet with Adaptations (Westgate Toilet Block - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located next to Fountains Hall.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 6m from the toilet block entrance.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens by sliding and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 83cm.
  • The door has a hook lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 143cm x 195cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat.
