About Hardcastle Crags - National Trust
Accessibility Overview
Hardcastle Crags sits in the West Yorkshire countryside and features a Mill, café, bookshop, ice cream parlour, picnic area, and hike/trail routes.
There is car parking at Clough Hole, Lower Midgepole and Upper Midgepole, with designated parking bays for Blue Badge holders within all car parks. In addition, there are two accessible parking spaces behind Gibson Mill. These spaces must be booked in advance.
Gibson Mill offers toilet facilities with adaptations for disabled people, which can be found near the mill entrance.
The café, picnic area, ice cream parlour, and shop, all offer step-free level access routes into and throughout them. Other points of interest across the sites are accessed via ramps/slopes or steps.
All of the main routes around Gibson Mill are uneven, with historic stone slabs, gravel and natural surfaces. A manual wheelchair can be borrowed from the café. The National Trust recommends booking this in advance.
There are miles of trails through the woodland. As a steep-sided valley, all but the Estate Track has particularly complex terrain including frequent slopes, steps, steep sections, rocks and tree roots.
