Route to (the Great Barn Restaurant and Kiosk)

  • From the Visitor Reception continue ahead through the gates.
    Follow the path past the shops to the Great Barn Restaurant on the left, and the Kiosk directly ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Eating and Drinking (Grab a Bite Kiosk)

  • This is a kiosk which serves ice cream.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, takeaway cutlery and a portable card machine for payment.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system could not be tested at the time of the survey.

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the rear of the building.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The slight ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with handrails on both sides.
  • The ramp overcomes the steps.
  • There are 4 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails cover all steps.
  • Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There are double manual doors (with one door locked) which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 83cm.

Eating and Drinking (Great Barn Restaurant)

  • This is a restaurant which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered and a self service counter.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).

  • The entrance surveyed is located between the shop and the Great Barn Restaurant.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are double manual gates which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 310cm.

Outdoor Seating Areas (Stableyard)

  • The following outdoor areas are available: terrace.
  • The surface of the outdoor seating area includes an uneven hard surface.
  • Facilities in this area include: a picnic table with fixed seating.
  • The surface height of the table is 73cm.
  • There is ample room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre within the seating area (150cm x 150cm).

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located on the grassed area on the right, opposite the shops.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 67cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 67cm.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 75cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.

Toilet with Adaptations (Rear of the Great Barn Restaurant - Accessible - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located outside the rear of the Great Barn Restaurant.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 2m from the rear entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 90cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 280cm x 270cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 78cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a push button flush on the wall above the toilet.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.

Toilet with Adaptations (Stableyard - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located in the toilet area in the stableyard.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 13m from the toilet area entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 89cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 135cm x 210cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
