About Hatfield Forest National Nature Reserve - National Trust

    Accessibility Overview

Sitting close to Bishop’s Stortford, Hatfield Forest National Nature Reserve features a Visitor Reception, café kiosk with covered and uncovered seating, picnic area, second-hand bookshop, Shell House pavilion, and grounds with woodland, lake, and pasture.

There are three car parking areas on site, with designated bays for Blue Badge holders found in the Hatfield Forest Road car park and the Shell House and Lake car park.

The estate offers toilet facilities with adaptations for disabled people, which can be found next to the café kiosk.

The second-hand bookshop, café kiosk, and picnic area have step-free level access into and throughout. The grounds offer step-free level access into them and through some areas. Other points of interest are accessed via ramps/slopes or steps.

Some main routes around the property have ramps/slopes and uneven natural and gravel surfaces, so manual wheelchairs and a tramper can be borrowed by contacting the estate office. The National Trust recommends booking these items in advance.

Please view our Detailed Access Guides below to find out further details, including measurements and photographs.
