About Mount Stewart - National Trust

    Accessibility Overview

Sitting close to the banks of Strangford Lough in County Down, Mount Stewart features a Visitor Reception, tearoom, picnic area, shops, House, gardens, lake, play area, woodland, dog exercise area, and parkland with hike/trail routes.

There are two car parks on the estate, with designated bays for Blue Badge holders available in each.

The estate offers toilet facilities with adaptations for disabled people, which can be found in Car Park 1, next to the gift shop, in the bookshop, and near to the Temple of the Winds building.

The Visitor Reception, tearoom, and shops have step-free level access into and throughout. The House offers step-free level access into it and throughout most areas via use of a staff operated lift. The formal gardens, Demesne, Sunken Garden, Shamrock Garden, Lake Walk, and dog exercise area all offer step-free level access into them and through some areas. Other points of interest are accessed via ramps/slopes or steps.

Some main routes around the property have steep ramps/slopes or gravel surfaces, so manual wheelchairs and off-road/all-terrain mobility scooters can be borrowed from the Visitor Reception. Sensory packs are also available. The National Trust recommends booking these items in advance.

Please view our Detailed Access Guides below to find out further details, including measurements and photographs.
