About Powis Castle and Garden - National Trust

    Accessibility Overview

Located south of Welshpool, close to the Welsh-English border, Powis Castle and Garden features a Visitor Reception, café, coffee shop, picnic area, shops, castle, museum, historical buildings, gardens, and grounds.

There is car parking on site, with a designated car park for Blue Badge holders.

The estate offers toilet facilities with adaptations for disabled people, which can be found near to the castle, and near to the coffee shop.

The café, coffee shop, garden shop, and The Powis State Coach exhibit space, all have step-free level access into and throughout. The Terraced Gardens offer step-free level access into them and through some areas. Other points of interest are accessed via ramps/slopes or steps.

Some main routes around the property have steep ramps/slopes and cobble and gravel surfaces, so a shuttle vehicle is available to take visitors from the Blue Badge parking area to the Courtyard and the Garden Coffee Shop. Manual wheelchairs can also be borrowed from the Visitor Reception, and sensory packs are available. The National Trust recommends booking these items in advance.

Please view our Detailed Access Guides below to find out further details, including measurements and photographs.
