Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars, magnifying glass, accessible maps and sensory maps.

Route to (the Walk Wood)
- Enter the gardens via the Visitor Centre and take the path to the left.
Follow the paths round, then take a left onto South Garden Walk.
Take any left turning off South Garden Walk to head for one of the access points into Walk Wood. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and muddy.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located off Big Tree Walk in the gardens.
- Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The access points to the area are located at several points along the far north side of the gardens.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
- The gate is self-closing.
- The gate has a latch lock.
- The width of the gap is 117cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark, grass, compact earth and uncompacted earth.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
