Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars, magnifying glass, accessible maps and sensory maps.

Route to (the Walk Wood)

  • Enter the gardens via the Visitor Centre and take the path to the left.
    Follow the paths round, then take a left onto South Garden Walk.
    Take any left turning off South Garden Walk to head for one of the access points into Walk Wood.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and muddy.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located off Big Tree Walk in the gardens.
  • Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The access points to the area are located at several points along the far north side of the gardens.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is self-closing.
  • The gate has a latch lock.
  • The width of the gap is 117cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark, grass, compact earth and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
