Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from Vyne House. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the North and West Gardens)

  • Follow the pathway from the visitor reception until the tea room comes into view down a pathway on the left hand side.
    Continue past this pathway and the north-east corner of the house will come into view. This is where the access point to the gardens is.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel and muddy.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
  • Due to ongoing ground works at the time of survey (November 2023), the shuttle was not operating between the house and the car park. It is recommended to contact the property in advance to make an alternative arrangement.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located at the north-east corner of the house.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a grassed play area, parkland and woodland.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: a lake with a circular footpath.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are steep ramps/slopes with handrails in the main areas .
  • There is a steep ramp on part of the circular pathway around the lake to facilitate a level change in the pathway.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
