Admissions

  • At this location the following areas are free to access for National Trust members but payable for everyone else: all areas including admission to Sedge Fen (boardwalk, woodland walk, summer nature trail and viewing hides in the historic undrained fen).

Public Transport

Route to (the Visitor Centre)

  • The visitor centre is approximately 100 metres along the access lane on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from the visitor centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Visitor Centre

  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 118cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the visitor centre.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the visitor centre.
  • All flooring is smooth and even.
  • Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 92cm.
  • There is a low level section at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The counter is placed in front of a patterned background.
  • The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
  • There are coffee tables, long tables, bench seats and chairs with armrests available in the visitor centre.

Exit (to External Walks and Trails)

  • There are double automatic doors which open by sliding.
  • The doors are activated by a push pad at a suitable height for seated users (between 75cm - 100cm).
  • The width of the opening is 122cm.
