Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Walled Garden)

  • The Walled Gardens is located next to the Parterre and Pleasure Grounds at the rear of the site.
    There is a path leading from Hardwicke Gate to the Stable Courtyard and then a path which leads from there past the Old Rectory to the access point for the Gardens.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located at the front of the Garden.
  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The width of the gap is 135cm.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark and bonded gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are two steps to access the Orangery.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
