Route to (Wimpole Hall)

  • There is a long path leading from Hardwicke Gate to the Stable Courtyard.
    Wimpole Hall is located to the left of the grounds from the Stable Courtyard.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Toilet with Adaptations (next to Wimpole Hall - Not Accessible/Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located to the right of Wimpole Hall.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 85cm.
  • The door has a sliding bolt lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 150cm x 185cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 110cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical grab rail on the non transfer side.
  • There is no dropdown rail.

Entrance

Tour

  • The steps are not clearly marked with a handrail on the left going up.
  • The highest step is 12cm high.

Stairs (First Floor to Basement)

  • The floors which are accessible by stairs are 1, B.
  • There are 15 steps between floors.
  • The steps are not clearly marked with a handrail on the right going down.
  • The highest step is 15cm high.

Exit (Basement to the Grounds)

  • The exit is located at the rear of the basement corridor.
  • There is not step-free access at the exit.
  • There are 3 steps, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the right going up.
  • The handrail covers all steps.
  • The steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There are double manual doors which open towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 110cm.
