Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • New College Lanarkshire is located on the south side of Cumbernauld town centre, next to the Antonine Shopping Centre. on North Carbrain Road, accessed from the main A8011 Central Way that runs through Cumbernauld Town Centre, by MacKintosh Way to the west or Yule Way to the east.
    • There are three car parks for visitors, students and staff - East Car Park, West Car Park and South Car Park. All car parks are accessed off North Carbrain Road. There are Blue Badge Bays in both the East Car Park and West Car Park.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the campus.
    • The nearest stops are on North Carbrain Road, served by bus routes 343 and X25A. Most buses stop on the A8011 Central Way north of the campus, including bus routes 35, 45, 38C, 49, 147, 147A, 247, 335, 403, X24, X25, X27, X28, X36, X37 and intercity buses 909, M8 and M9. Buses are run by a variety of companies included Stagecoach and First Group.

    • The floors which are accessible by stairs are G, M, 1, 2 and 3.
    • The stairs are located straight ahead as you enter via the Main Block west entrance.
    • The stairs are approximately 10m from the Main Block west entrance.

    • The steps are medium height (11cm - 17cm).
    • The steps do have handrails.
    • The steps have a handrail on both sides.

    • These are the Green Stairs (photographs 1 to 6). There is a similar staircase, the Yellow Stairs serving the same floors, on the other side of the Student Services area to the east (photographs 7 to 10).
      There are two other similar staircases to each end of the building, the Blue Stairs at the west end (photographs 11 to 14) and the Red Stairs at the east end (photographs 15 to 18), with restricted access at ground floor (Blue Stairs) and first floor levels (Blue and Red Stairs).

Lift (Main Lift)

Inside Access

  • There is level access to the service.

  • The portable loop is available upon prior request at the main reception, or from the ICT Helpdesk room 217.
  • Staff are trained to use the hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was not tested at the time of the survey.
  • This venue does not play background music.
  • The lighting levels are moderate to good.

Supportive Learning Training Kitchen

  • The kitchen is a training room to provide cooking, washing and other household skills.
  • Within the training kitchen there are a training table tops and benches, a variety of standard domestic white goods, hobs and ovens, washing machines, dryers, tall refrigerator, sinks and drainers, together with cooking and cleaning utensils.
  • There are also special adapted accessible surfaces including manually adjustable height table, worktop, hob and sink.
  • Flooring is non-slip. Colour contrast between floor and walls is good.
  • There is no hearing assistance system, though a portable induction loop may be provided.
  • In addition, there is a separate lounge mock-up with armchairs, coffee table, side units and television.

  • The nearest accessible toilet(s) is/are located on the third floor of the main block, rear corridor, room MB306 (left transfer).
