Access To
- The shop is located ahead as you enter from the right entrance, or left as you exit the lift after entering via the left Accessible Route entrance.
- View information on Newcastle University Students' Union (opens new tab) .
- The most accessible route has a slight ramp or slope, a steep ramp or slope, manual doors, automatic doors and shiny flooring.
- There is no signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access to enter the COOP Shop.
- There are double manual doors which open both ways.
- The width of the opening is 176cm.
- The doors have a low visual contrast.
- The entrance surveyed above is for the doorway if you enter the building via the right entrance.
If entering via the left Accessible Route entrance, there are no doors to enter the shop.
Counter
- The counter is located at the front left of the shop.
- The distance from the shop entrance is 5m.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 94cm.
- There is a lowered section at the counter.
- The height of the lowered section is 70cm.
- The counter has glazed screens and patterned/distracting backgrounds.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- The height of the touchscreen display ranges from 100cm to 155cm from the floor.
- There is background noise in this area.
- The flooring is shiny.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey, with unshaded light sources.
- The minimum aisle width in the shop is 100cm.
Some items are stacked high. A member of staff can assist if necessary. - A seat is available on request.
