Entrance (Apartment 1A)

  • This entrance is located on the ground floor, to the right as you enter the apartment block.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a single manual door at this entrance.
  • The door opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 84cm.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.
  • There is a second entrance into Apartment 1A which is accessed from the rear of the building via a fixed concrete ramp (photograph 3). The ramp is 92cm wide with no handrails.
    The opening width for this rear entrance is 70cm.

Kitchen (with Dining Area and Lounge Area)

  • The kitchen is located ahead and to the right when entering the apartment.
  • There is step-free level access into the kitchen.
  • Furniture can be moved to enable a manoeuvring space for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • The kitchen has overhead cupboards and under counter cupboards.
  • The work surface is 92cm from the floor.
  • The hob is 92cm from the floor.
  • The oven is at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The sink is 92cm from the floor.
  • The sink has a lever mixer tap.
  • Facilities within the kitchen include a microwave, a dishwasher, a fridge freezer, a kettle and a toaster.
  • Seating available in the kitchen includes: chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests, armchairs and sofas.
  • Furniture available in the kitchen includes: tables and coffee tables.

Bedroom with Adaptations (Double Room)

  • Location and Access View
    • The bedroom surveyed is located immediately to the left after entering the apartment.
    • The most accessible route to the bedroom has step-free level access.
    • There is step-free level access into the bedroom.
    • The door opens outwards.
    • The width of the door opening is 72cm.
  • Bedroom Features View
    • The bedroom has a double bed.
    • The top of the mattress is 67cm from the floor.
    • The space under the bed is 3cm from the floor.
    • There is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre next to the bed (150cm x 150cm).
    • The following is available in this bedroom: bedside plug sockets, a coffee table, a desk and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests.

    • Upon entering the bedroom, the access space narrows to 47cm between the bed and the radiator.

Ensuite with Adaptations (Double Room)

    • There is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).

    • There is a push button flush in the centre of the cistern.
    • There is no horizontal grab rail for the toilet.
    • There is no vertical grab rail for the toilet.
    • There is a dropdown rail on the right as you face the toilet.
    • The toilet seat is 45cm from the floor.
    • There is a wash basin, a soap dispenser and a hand towel available.
    • The wash basin has a lever mixer tap.
    • There are no vertical grab rails at the wash basin.
    • There is no emergency alarm.
    • The ensuite has a pedal bin.
    • Additional features include: a mirror and a coat hook.
    • The ensuite has a shower with a step.
    • The shower has a detachable shower head, a flip-down seat and a wall-mounted grab rail.
    • The shower seat is 46cm from the floor.

  • There is stepped access into the laundry room.
  • There is 1 step which is unmarked with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently held open.
  • The width of the opening is 73cm.
  • There is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • Facilities within the room include a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
  • The following machines are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user: washing machine and tumble dryer.
