Overview

  • About View
    • The venue is a tourist attraction comprising grounds, gardens, café, event rooms and a Stately Home.
    • Services available in the venue include: a café, standard toilets, toilets with adaptations, baby change facilities. The venue also includes transport (the Kelly Train) around the various areas within the grounds. The Kelly Train (shown in the photos) has ramps to allow wheelchair users to board the train. The Kelly Train circulates throughout the grounds during opening hours.

    • The venue has its own car park, with Blue Badge parking available.

  • Getting In and Around View
    • There is step-free level access at the most accessible entrance.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

Getting Around (Gift Shop)

Access To (Accessible Entrance - House)

  • The accessible entrance to the house is through double doors in the the Gift Shop then a single door on the left of the corridor. Lighting levels in the corridor are low.

  • There are double manual doors which are permanently held open.

  • The second door has to be unlocked by a member of staff from the Gift Shop. After entering the second door there is a corridor leading to a platform lift to bypass stairs. Manual wheelchairs are available for use. Motorised wheelchairs cannot be used in the house itself.

Lift (Accessible Entrance - House)

Stairs

  • The stairs surveyed are located at the main entrance to the house.

  • The handrails are not easy to grip.
  • The handrail covers the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrail does not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.

  • The depth of the steps is between 30cm and 45cm.

Stairs (to First Floor)
