Getting To (Changing Place)

  • Enter via the Main Entrance and turn left down the main corridor. The entrance to the Changing Place is located on the left.

    • The changing place is also used as an accessible toilet for the general public. There is a heavy screen door that is key code locked to access the changing facilities and hoist.

Entrance (Main Hospital Entrance - Automatic Door)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the main hospital building, to the right of the revolving doors.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free access via a very easy slope at the entrance.
  • There is a single automatic door at this entrance.
  • The door opens towards you.
  • There is a push pad at a height of 100cm.
  • The width of the opening is 119cm.
  • The door has a low visual contrast.
  • There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 104cm.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.
  • This entrance gives access to Level B of the main hospital building.

Changing Places (Level B)

    • The Changing Places facility surveyed is located on Level B of the main hospital building, within the Level B toilet with adaptations.
    • The Changing Places toilet is in addition to other toilet facilities.
    • The distance from the main hospital entrance is 20m.
    • The most accessible route to the Changing Places facility has step-free level access, manual doors and doors permanently held open.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
    • A key is required for access to this facility.
    • The door opens inwards and has a high visual contrast.
    • The width of the door opening is 80cm.
    • The door has no lock.
    • Internally the door has a high visual contrast.
    • There is not a grab rail on the internal door .
    • The dimensions of the facility are 220cm (width) x 260cm (depth) and there is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (180cm x 180cm).

Toilet with Adaptations (Level B - Main Entrance - Transfer Both Sides)

  • Location and Access View
    • The toilet surveyed is located on Level B of the main hospital building, to the left after the main reception.
    • The distance from the main hospital entrance is 17m.
    • The most accessible route to the toilet has doors permanently held open and step-free level access.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
    • The door opens outwards and has a high visual contrast.
    • The width of the door opening is 88cm.
    • The door has a lever twist lock.
    • Internally the door has a high visual contrast.
    • There is a grab rail on the internal door with a high visual contrast.
  • Dimensions and Features View
    • The dimensions of the cubicle are 224cm (width) x 349cm (depth) and there is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is lateral transfer space on both sides of the toilet, however the right side is obstructed.

  • Toilet Facilities View
    • There are 5 toilets with adaptations.
    • Toilets with adaptations are located on Level B at the main entrance and along the main entrance corridor near the Pharmacy and Direct Assessment Unit, on Level A along the main corridor and opposite the Hospital Chapel and along the main corridor on the way to Laurel House, and on Level C outside the Loughview Restaurant.
    • The transfer space varies between left and right in the toilets with adaptations.
    • The shared step-free toilet facilities are located on Level B along the main entrance corridor near the Pharmacy and on Level A along the main corridor on the way to Laurel House.
    • The male and female step-free toilet facilities are located on Level C outside the Loughview Restaurant.
