Introduction

  • The Intensive Care and High Dependency Units are in the Orange Zone, located on the second floor of the Trent Cardiac Centre, via the W2a area.

Getting To The Hospital

  • By Road View
    • Nottingham City Hospital is located in the North of the city.
      From the M1 leave at Junction 26 to take the A610 towards the city centre.
      Join the A6514 heading North, follow the road, and the entrance to the hospital will be on the left at the roundabout.
    • There are several open air car parks situated around the site.
      Some of which are specifically for staff or Blue Badge holders only.
  • By Bus View
    • There are several bus services run by Nottingham City Transport that stop at the site.
      There is a Medilink Bus that runs from Phoenix Park, Hucknall Tram, Queen’s Drive Park and Ride or QMC.
    • There is an onsite bus stop.
    • There are bus stops located off Hucknell and Valley Road.
    • The bus stops are sheltered, and the majority have fixed seating.
    • The route from the bus stops to the hospital buildings are via tarmac paths, some of which are uneven.
      There are road crossings, which have dropped kerbs, with most having tactile paving.
  • By Train View
    • Bullwell Station is the closest station to the hospital and is approximately 1.2 miles or 1.9km from the hospital.
      Nottingham Station is approximately 4 miles or 6.4km from the hospital.
      Services which stop at the station are Cross Country, East Midlands and Northern Rail.
  • By Tram View
    • There is not a tram stop on site, however you can use the tram to get to Wilkinson Street and then connect with the free Medilink Bus to City Hospital.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the hospital.
  • The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) is located in the Green Zone on the ground floor, S6 area.

  • There are volunteers available for help and assistance at the hospital.
  • Volunteers can be found throughout the hospital and at the entrances to the hospital.
  • Documents are available in an alternative format and can be provided to include: Braille on request, large print on request, different languages on request, voice recognition CD on request and audio on request.
  • There is an assistance dog toilet or toileting area on the hospital site.
  • The assistance dog toilet or toileting area is located left hand side of the Trust HQ building.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available on request.
  • BSL interpreters can be provided on request.
  • Language interpreters can be provided on request.
  • A mobility scooter charging point is not available at the hospital.
  • Mobility aids are available to help patients move around and include; wheelchairs, tri wheel walkers, walking frames, walking sticks, mobile hoists, hoist slings, adjustable beds and crutches.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact a nurse/doctor.
  • There is a Changing Places facility at this hospital which is located in area P3 of the Physiotherapy Corridor.
