About Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Barnsley Hospital was built in the 1970s and serves a population of over a quarter of a million people in the Barnsley area.

Today, it continues to provide a full range of district hospital services to the local community and surrounding area. These include emergency department services, outpatient clinics, inpatient services and maternity and children’s services. We also provide a number of specialised services, including cancer and surgical services, in conjunction with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Last year, it cared for more than 61,000 patients in the hospital, saw 268,000 in clinic appointments and treated 78,000 in the emergency department.

You can find out more about the services and healthcare you can expect from Barnsley Hospital in the patients and visitors section of this website.
