Sunderland is the North East’s seaside city, with a fascinating heritage, sandy beaches and plenty to see and do. The two Blue Flag award-winning beaches have golden sands and miles of stunning coastline, perfect for family fun. The iconic Empire Theatre, the north east’s largest, features many productions including West End musicals. The city has several museums and galleries including the National Glass Centre, the North East Land Sea and Air Museum and the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art. The Sunderland Airshow takes place every summer and is hailed as one of the country’s best.
