About University of Essex

The University of Essex welcomes disabled students, staff and visitors to its campuses, and is committed to removing barriers to education, training and employment for all.

These goals are supported by our Equality and Diversity Unit; our dedicated disability team offering specialist support, equipment and expertise to students with disabilities/learning difficulties; and an Access Forum promoting university-wide communication on access issues and working with Estates on new builds and refurbishments.

Essex has 'Positive about Disabled People' status. Our figures for students disclosing a disability are consistently above the national average, reflecting we hope our strong tradition of support in this field.

We recognise that comprehensive, accurate information is essential in enabling disabled people to make informed choices. To this end, all access-related campus information is now available from a one-stop portal, Access@Essex on the university web site.

We are very pleased to be working with AccessAble.
