Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free and level.
  • 11-13 Charterhouse Buildings has one entrance, which provides step-free access to the ground floor of the building via a steep ramp (which bypasses a single step). There are double manual doors (with one leaf locked) at this entrance.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on all floors; however the lift only serves the basement, ground, first and second floors - the third floor can only be accessed via the stairs.
  • Floor surfaces along circulation routes consist mainly of low-pile carpet, with shiny vinyl flooring in some areas.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and open-plan office areas, with a mixture of seating.
  • There is no wayfinding signage in the building; however, each room is clearly signed with large print numbered and written text signage on its door.

  • The lift door has a high visual contrast.
  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • The weight limit for the lift is 375kg.
  • The external lift control buttons have tactile markings and a high visual contrast.
  • Some of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
