Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free and level.
  • Founder's West has three external entrances.
    The most accessible entrance provides step-free access via a steep ramp or three steps into the ground floor.
    Two entrances provide stepped access - one into the ground floor and one into the first floor.
  • The entrances are not signed.
  • Access from the South and North Quads into Founder's West includes steps at some entrances and slight ramps at others, as shown in the photographs.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout most of the building via a lift.

  • The ramp has a steep gradient.
  • The ramp is over 150cm wide with handrails on both sides.
  • The ramp bypasses the steps.
  • There are 3 steps with handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails are easy to grip.
  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
  • The steps are unmarked.
