Location and Access

- There are picnic area situated along the nature trails and near to the visitor centre. Some of the picnic tables are adapted for wheelchair users.
- The most accessible route has slight ramps or slopes and uneven surfaces.

Seating Area
View
- The seating area is uncovered.
- There is step-free level access throughout the seating area, this may include the use of a lift.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: some of the areas along the trails.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in this area includes: benches.
- Furniture available in this area includes: picnic tables and adapted picnic tables.
- Some chairs and tables are fixed.
- The surface height of some of the tables is suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear height under the tables is not suitable for wheelchair users.
- There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.
Designated Walking Trail - Wetland Trail
- The following is available in this area: woodland and open countryside.
- Outdoor areas consist of concrete or tarmac, compact earth, loose stones and paving slabs.
- There are footpaths throughout.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: the approach to some of the viewpoints and hides.
- There are seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates and uneven surfaces.
Access To Gillman Hide
- The Gillman hide is on the Wetland Trail. There are two ponds at the Gillman hide where visitors can pond dip and which are used for visiting school groups.
- The most accessible route has slight ramps or slopes and uneven surfaces.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free access via ramp into the hide.
- The ramp has a steep gradient.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide with no handrails.
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The door is easy to open.
- The width of the opening is 92cm.
- The door has a low visual contrast.
Access To Waterston Hide
- The Waterston hide is located on the Wetland Trail.
- The most accessible route has slight ramps or slopes, uneven surfaces and manual gates.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into the Waterston hide.
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The door is easy to open.
- The width of the opening is 88cm.
- The door has a low visual contrast.
Access To Carden Hide
- The Carden hide is located on the Wetland Trail.
- The most accessible route has slight ramps or slopes, uneven surfaces and manual gates.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into Carden hide.
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The door is easy to open.
- The width of the opening is 88cm.
- The door has a low visual contrast.
Designated Walking Trail - Leafy Loop, Secret Garden and Raised Pond Dipping
- The following is available in this area: woodland and open countryside.
- Outdoor areas consist of concrete or tarmac, compact earth, uncompacted earth and loose stones.
- There are footpaths in some areas.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: some areas around the trails.
- The following areas have stepped access: some areas around the trails.
- There are some seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have easy open gates, narrow gaps and uneven surfaces.
Designated Walking Trail - Wildflower Meadow Trail - seasonal, summer only
- The following is available in this area: open countryside and woodland.
- Outdoor areas consist of grass and concrete or tarmac.
- There are footpaths in some areas.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- There are not any seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates and uneven surfaces.
- This is a winding, uneven path which is cut through long grass and wildflowers in the wildflower meadow each summer.
The Wildflower Meadow Trail is accessed from the Wetland Trail.
Designated Walking Trail - Woodland and Viewpoint Trail
- The following is available in this area: woodland and open countryside.
- Outdoor areas consist of concrete or tarmac, loose chippings, grass, compact earth, uncompacted earth and loose stones.
- There are footpaths in some areas.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: some areas along the trail.
- The following areas have stepped access: some areas along the trail.
- There are some seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have narrow gaps and uneven surfaces.
- Some areas along these trails are challenging and not suitable for people with mobility difficulties.
Designated Walking Trail - Loch Leven Heritage Trail
- The following is available in this area: woodland and open countryside.
- Outdoor areas consist of concrete or tarmac, loose chippings, grass and loose stones.
- There are footpaths throughout.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: some areas along the trail.
- There are some seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates and uneven surfaces.
- This 21km trail skirts the shores of Loch Leven. The trail is reached by a fully accessible sloped tarmac path and underpass which takes visitors under a road. The trail can also be accessed at other points around Loch Leven.
Designated Walking Trail - Sleeping Giant path
- The following is available in this area: open countryside and woodland.
- Outdoor areas consist of concrete or tarmac, loose stones, loose chippings and grass.
- There are footpaths throughout.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: some areas of the trail.
- There are some seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates and uneven surfaces.
- The trail is 7km long, with a hard surface. This trail has some very steep inclines with views. It is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. .
