About Sheffield Safe Places

The Safe Places project is run by Sheffield City Council and Heeley City Farm. It aims to support anyone who feels vulnerable to feel safe when they are out and about in Sheffield. It is part of a national network of organisations across the country which aims to support people in the community. This may be because of a disability, dementia, head injury, anxiety or any other support needs.

If someone needs help, for example they are lost, ill or frightened, then they can enter the nearest safe place to get help. The Safe Place can provide people with a temporary refuge until a friend, loved one or carer comes, or until they feel able to leave again. If you are a victim of a hate crime we can support you with this as well.

The project consists of a network of businesses and organisations across Sheffield who are committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of people who join the scheme.

The Safe Places logo is displayed in the window of all the registered safe places.

The staff or volunteers in safe places will assist anyone who goes to them for help. If you or someone you care for may benefit from using Safe Places, you can complete an application form to become a member.

You will be sent a free pack containing a Keep Safe Card, to carry with you whilst you are out and about. To apply online or see a list of the current Safe Places, please visit the website for more information and a map of all our Safe Places.
