Overview

Toilet and Changing Facilities

  • Toilet Facilities View
    • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
    • The toilet with adaptations is located to the left as you enter the centre.

Eating and Drinking (Café and Gallery Area)

    • The café is accessed via the shop.
    • The most accessible route has step-free level access.
    • This area has a counter where food and drink can be ordered, staff who can provide assistance with ordering and numerous seating options.
    • Full table service is available on request only.
    • Menus are wall-mounted, displayed on the counter and available in large print.
    • The following dietary requirements can be catered for: gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, vegetarian and vegan.
    • The following are available: drinking straws, takeaway cups and takeaway cutlery.
    • There is not a hearing assistance system.
  • Order and Payment View
    • The payment counter was surveyed.
    • The counter is located to the left hand side as you enter the café.
    • There is step-free level access to the counter.
    • The height of the counter is 90cm.
    • There is not a lowered section at the counter.
  • Seating Area View

    • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).

    • Seating available in this area includes: chairs without armrests and benches.

Toilet with Adaptations (Left Hand Transfer)

    • The most accessible route to the toilet has step-free level access.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
    • The door opens outwards.
    • The width of the door opening is 76cm.
    • The door has a twist lock.
  • Dimensions and Features View
    • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is a lateral transfer space to the left as you face the toilet.
    • The lateral transfer space is 145cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
    • There is a lever flush on the wall above the cistern.

Access Point (Onny Meadows Trails)

  • This access point is located at the rear of the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre.
  • The approach to the access point has uneven surfaces.
  • The access point is not clearly signed.
  • There is step-free access via slope.
  • The slope has a slight gradient.
  • There is an open gap.
  • The width of the opening is 220cm.
  • There is step-free access via a very easy slope as you enter.

Onny Meadows Trails

  • The full Onny Meadows Trail is approximately 2km long.
  • The most accessible trail is a circular route and can be completed in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction around the Wildflower Meadow and Events Field. This also incorporates the accessible platform at the ponds.
  • There are also shorter easy access paths all the way to Kingfisher Corner and round the wild flower meadow as far as the bridge over to the wild play area.
  • The wheelchair accessible platform at the ponds is accessed via a slight ramp or 6 steps.
  • The trail has some directional signage. Tall finger posts are located at the start of the trail with symbols on posts more widely.
  • The width of the pathways vary, but are generally 180cm wide and 100cm in certain sections. There are slight slopes in places.
  • The surface of the pathways is mostly compacted earth, some with fine loose chippings on top. There are some areas that have larger chippings.
  • Bench seating is located at regular intervals on the trails.
