    • The Maudsley Hospital consists of a range of buildings boundaried by four roads.
    • To the south lies the railway line with Denmark Hill train station and Windsor Walk.
    • The Main Entrance Building and Outpatients are among the buildings on the western boundary of Denmark Hill.
    • Other buildings face north onto De Crespigny Park and east onto Grove Lane.
    • The hospital is located in a hilly area and there are moderate and steep slopes on the surrounding roads.

Getting Here (Maudsley Hospital)

  • By Road View
    • Maudsley Hospital is located in Camberwell, South London just off Denmark Hill. It is approximately 0.6 km from the A202 (Peckham Road) which gives access to the A3 and A23 to the West and the A2 and 20 to the East.
    • The Hospital has its own car park which is located at the front of the hospital. Blue Badge bays are available.
  • By Bus View
    • The nearest bus stop is Kings College (Stop A) which is located on Denmark Hill and is approximately 90 metres from the main hospital entrance. Services that stop here are the 42, 68, 468 and N68.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train station is Denmark Hill approximately 200 metres away located to the South of the hospital site.
  • By Underground View
    • The nearest tube station is Brixton, approximately 2.3 km away via Denmark Hill, Cold Harbour Lane, Lilford Road and Brixton Road.

Opening Times

  • The outer road-facing areas of grounds are open 24 hours per day. The central fenced areas are closed outside of normal office hours. There are intercoms at some gates to contact reception for access. Please see the entrance guides for further details.

Patient Drop Off into Hospital Grounds

  • There is no patient/ visitor car parking in the centre of the hospital grounds.
  • It is possible to drive in and drop off patients / visitors in the access area near to rear of the gym.
  • Vehicles have access via the vehicle gate to the right of the Main Entrance Building where there is an intercom to speak to the main reception.

Outside Access (Pedestrian Gate into Grounds)

  • This information is for the entrance located to the right of the Main Entrance Building from Denmark Hill.
  • There is not level access into the venue.
  • The main doors open away from you (push).
  • The doors are single width.

    • Although the first section of path after this gate has an easy slope, it leads to the internal access road, which has steep slopes in both directions.

Route to Clinical Treatment Centre/ centre of hospital grounds

  • The Clinical Treatment Centre and Gym are located in the centre of the hospital site, behind the Main Entrance Building.
  • From Denmark Hill, use the accessible pedestrian gate to the right of the Main Entrance Building.
  • The path leads to the left of the Clinical Treatment Centre. There is a short, moderate ramp down next to the building. The path has some uneven areas.
  • There are easy and moderate slopes on the tarmac path that continues past the Clinical Treatment Centre into the site.

Outside Access (Grove Lane Entrance Gate)

  • This information is for the entrance located from Grove Lane into the grounds.
  • There is not level access into the venue.
  • The intercom is not in a suitable position to allow wheelchair users to gain access.
  • The main doors open automatically.
  • The doors are single width.
  • The door opening is 153cm (5ft) wide.

    • During normal opening hours the gate is held open.
    • At other times the gate opens automatically after making contact with staff via the intercom.

Inter-Hospital Bus Service

  • There is a regular bus service for staff and patients running between the Maudsley and Bethlem Hospitals.

  • Bus users must have a staff pass or a permit to travel.
  • The permit may be obtained from the General Admin Office within the Main Entrance Building.
