Generic (The Quay - St Julian's Pier)

  • The route begins on The Quay, opposite Albert Pier, next to Town Church.
  • There is a pedestrian crossing over Fountain Street.
  • The pedestrian crossing has an audible alert for when it is safe to cross.
  • There is a path with a block paving surface leading to a pedestrian crossing onto South Esplanade.
  • There are public toilets located on South Esplanade.
  • There is a pedestrian crossing over South Esplanade to the Quay.
  • The pedestrian crossing has an audible alert for when it is safe to cross.
  • Once across the road, turn left and follow the Quay for 400m until you reach St Julian's Pier.
  • The footpath along The Quay is tarmac.
  • There is level access along the footpath.
  • The footpath runs along the quayside with views over the marina and Castle Cornet.
  • There are a number of cafés, bars and restaurants located along the quayside.

Generic (St Julians Pier - St Julians Avenue)

  • Turn right from The Quay onto St Julian's Pier.
  • There is a tarmac path leading to St Julian’s Pier.
  • The Liberation Monument is located to your left as you go on to the pier.
  • There is a tarmac path leading down the pier.
  • There is bench seating located along the pier.
  • Follow the route along the pier for approximately 270m, as far as the Herm Trident Ferry boarding gate.
  • The route then goes back down the pier to The Quay.
  • There is a café located along the pier.
  • There is a pedestrian crossing across The Quay.
  • The pedestrian crossing has an audible alert for when it is safe to cross.
  • After crossing, turn right and follow the path as it bears left and joins St Julian's Avenue.

Generic (St Julians Avenue - Cambridge Park)

  • Follow St Julian's Avenue, until you reach the pedestrian crossing.
  • The pedestrian crossing has an audible alert for when it is safe to cross.
  • The pedestrian crossing has dropped kerbs. The dropped kerbs do not have tactile paving.
  • There is an easy slope running the length of St Julian's Avenue.
  • Follow St Julian's Avenue for approximately 200-250m, where there are 2 side paths that lead to Les Cotils.
  • The first side path has a steep slope on it.
  • The second side path further along has a steep slope leading to 10+ medium-height steps, with handrails on the left.
  • After reaching the top of the ramp or steps for the lane to Les Cotils, turn right onto Les Cotils.
  • There is no footpath along Les Cotils.
  • The La Fregate Hotel and Restaurant is located just off Les Cotils.
  • There is a viewpoint over St Peter Port and The Quay, located at the corner of Les Cotils and L'Hyvreuse.
  • Follow Les Cotils for 250m and then turn left from Les Cotils onto L'Hyvreuse.
  • There is a footpath on the right hand side of L'Hyvreuse.
  • Les Cotils Hotel and Restaurant is located on L'Hyvreuse.
  • Cambridge Park is located halfway along the footpath on your right.

Generic (Cambridge Park - Candie Gardens)

  • There is an unsurfaced path running alongside Cambridge Park.
  • There is step-free access along the path.
  • There is bench seating along the path.
  • There are fixed bollards, with a width of over 100cm between them.
  • Once you leave Cambridge Park turn left onto Cambridge Park Road.
  • There is a footpath either side of Cambridge Park Road.
  • There is no designated crossing point along Cambridge Park Road.
  • The Duke of Richmond Hotel and its restaurants are located on the corner of Duke of Richmond and L'Hyvreuse.
  • Follow Cambridge Park Road past the Duke of Richmond Hotel to the corner of Cambridge Park Road and Candie Road.
  • Turn right onto Candie Road and follow Candie Road for 40m.
  • Cross from Candie Road to Monument Road.
  • There is no designated crossing point.
  • There is a footpath running along the left side of Monument Road.
  • Monument Road passes by Candie Cemetery and Victoria Tower.
  • Follow the path as the road bears left and goes around the cemetery.
  • When Monument Road reaches the crossroads with Upland Road, turn left and join Upland Road.
  • At the end of Upland Road, cross the road and re-join Candie Road.
  • There is no designated crossing point.
  • Turn left and follow Candie Road uphill until you reach the entrance for Candie Gardens and Museum.

Generic (Candie Gardens - Sunken Garden)

Generic (Sunken Garden - The Quay)

  • Access to the Sunken Garden is by ramp or steps.
  • The ramp has alternating areas of steep and slight gradients.
  • Alternatively, there are 9 steps with a handrail either side.
  • The Sunken Garden has paving slabs and grass surfaces.
  • There are picnic benches and bench seating in the Sunken Garden.
  • The Sunken Garden is mostly level, with sloped or stepped access to the rear of the garden.
  • On returning to the hiking route, continue to follow St James Street downhill.
  • Turn left when you reach Smith Street.
  • There is an easy slope leading down Smith Street.
  • At the bottom of Smith Street it merges with the High Street.
  • Turn right and follow the High Street to the St Peter Port Town Church.
