Swansea Train Station (Abertawe)

Swansea Train Station to Taxi Rank Crossings

  • Upon exiting the station, turn right and continue ahead along High Street for approximately 50 metres towards the taxi rank road crossings.
  • There is step-free access throughout this part of the route.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of paving slabs.
  • The path has a slight uphill gradient and is uneven in places due to lowered/raised drain covers and concrete paving blocks.

Taxi Rank Crossings

  • Upon reaching the taxi rank, cross over the first crossing (taxi rank exit).
  • There is tactile paving and dropped kerbs on both sides of the crossing.
  • There are slight gradients between the path and the road on both sides.
  • The road surface consists of tarmac.
  • There are no visual signals available at this crossing.
  • Having crossed continue ahead for approximately 25 metres until reaching the second crossing.
  • The path between the crossings is uneven in places.
  • The second crossing is similar to the first crossing.

Taxi Rank Crossings to Powell Street Crossing

  • Having crossed, continue ahead along High Street for approximately 200m towards the Bethesda Street turning.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of concrete paving slabs.
  • The path has a slight uphill gradient initially and is uneven in places. This is due to lowered/raised drain covers and concrete paving slabs.
  • There are bollards located at the beginning of this route as well as prior to the Powell Street crossing. The width between the bollards is 155cm.
  • After approximately 75 metres, cross over at the Powell Street crossing.
  • There is tactile paving and dropped kerbs on both sides of the crossing.
  • There is an slight gradient between the path and the road on the near side and a steep gradient on the far side.
  • The road surface consists of tarmac.
  • The road has a slight slope from left to right.
  • There are no visual signals available at this crossing.

Powell Street Crossing to John Street and Bethesda Street Crossings

  • Having crossed, turn slightly left and continue ahead for approximately 35 metres until you reach the Prince of Wales Road.
  • Upon reaching the Prince of Wales Road, turn right and continue ahead for an additional 75 metres until you reach the Johns Street and Bethesda Street Crossings.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of concrete paving slabs.
  • The path has a slight uphill gradient along its entirety and is uneven in places due to lowered/raised drain covers and concrete paving slabs.
  • The path width narrows to 95cm in places.
  • There is no tactile paving and no dropped kerb on the near side of the John Street crossing however there is a lowered section.
  • There is no tactile paving on the far side of the Bethesda Street crossing but there is a dropped kerb.
  • The road surface at the crossings consists of tarmac.
  • The road has a slight uphill gradient and is mostly even.

John Street and Bethesda Street Crossings to Maliphant Street

  • Having crossed, turn right and continue ahead for approximately 700 metres along the bus road towards Maliphant Street.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of tarmac.
  • There is a slight downhill slope both at the beginning and at the end of the path.
  • The path is mostly level between theses slopes with slight undulating gradients in places.
  • The path is mostly even throughout.
  • The path narrows to 115cm when passing the roadside crash barrier near the beginning of the route.
  • There is also a gate near the beginning of the route. The gate opening width is 190cm.
  • There is a bollard with gaps on either side located at the bottom of the slope at the end of this section of the route. The width between the bollards is 140cm.
  • This path is also used by cyclists.

Maliphant Street to Morfa Road

  • Upon reaching Maliphant Street at the end of the path, turn right and continue ahead through the tunnel.
  • The path within the tunnel is uneven in places.
  • Having emerged from the tunnel, turn left onto the railway bridge ramp.
  • The ramp has a slight gradient as well as frequent level landings both on the way up and on the way down.
  • There are handrails on both sides of the ramp. There are also low level handrails available.
  • The ramp surface consists mostly of tarmac with a concrete section at the end.
  • There are no handrails available along the bridge itself.

Morfa Road to Morfa Road Crossing

  • Upon reaching the end of the ramp, continue ahead for approximately 600m towards the Morfa road crossing.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of tarmac.
  • There is a slight slope towards the road along the entirety of the path.
  • The path has slight and steep uphill gradients in places.
  • After approximately 100 meters cross over Morfa Road for the first time.
  • This crossing point consists of two crossings separated by a central island. The central island surface consists of tactile paving and is level with the road.
  • The crossing point has tactile paving and dropped kerbs on both sides.
  • There are slight gradients between the path and the road on both sides.
  • The surface of the road consists of tarmac.
  • There are no visual signals available at this crossing.
  • Having crossed, continue ahead along Morfa Road for approximately 90 metres towards the Golwg Y Garreg Wen crossing.
  • This crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • There are slight gradients between the path and the road on both sides.
  • The road surface consists of tarmac.
  • There are no visual signals available at this crossing.
  • Having crossed, continue ahead along Morfa Road for 370 metres until reaching the second Morfa Road Crossing.

Morfa Road Crossing

  • Morfa Road crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • There are slight gradients between the path and the road on both sides.
  • The road surface consists of tarmac.
  • There are no visual signals available at this crossing.

Morfa Road Crossing to Landore Park and Ride

  • Having crossed Morfa Road, turn right and continue along the bus lane path for approximately 170 metres towards the Landore Park and Ride.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of tarmac and brick paving.
  • The path is uneven immediately after crossing due to lowered/raised drain covers.
  • The path curves from right to left.
  • There is a slight gradient between the path and the road along its entirety.
  • The path narrows in places due to overgrowth.

Landore Park and Ride

  • Upon reaching Landore Park and Ride, follow the path into the car park. Turn right and cross over the car park entrance access road towards the bus pavilion.
  • This crossing has tactile paving on both sides.
  • The road surface consists of brick paving and is even.
  • Having crossed, turn right and head back towards the road.
  • Having passed through the gate post, turn left and continue ahead for approximately 30 metres towards the car park exit access road.
  • Upon reaching the road, there is a 130cm gap between the gate and the kerb.
  • Having passed the gate, turn right and cross over the car park exit access road.
  • There is tactile paving available on the near side of the crossing.
  • The road surface consists of tarmac and is even.
  • Having crossed, turn right and head towards the road.
  • There is a signpost in the centre of the path which causes the path width to narrow to 100cm.
  • Having passed the signpost, turn left and continue ahead up the slope towards the A4217. This slope has a slight gradient.

Landore Park and Ride to A4217 Crossings

  • Upon reaching the road (A4217), turn left and continue ahead for approximately 200 metres towards the A4217 crossings.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of tarmac.
  • There is a slight slope towards the road for the entirety of the path.
  • There is a slight uphill gradient for the majority of the path.
  • The path is uneven in places due to cracked tarmac as well as raised/lowered drain covers.
  • The path narrows in places to 115cm. This is due to road signs positioned in the centre of the path.
  • After approximately 190 metres, turn right and head towards the A4217 road crossings.

A4217 Crossings

  • This crossing point consists of two crossings separated by a central island.
  • The first crossing has tactile paving and dropped kerbs on both sides.
  • There is a slight gradient between the path and the road on both sides.
  • The surface of the road consists of tarmac.
  • There are visual indicators available at this crossing.
  • The visual signals are activated via push buttons. These are between the heights of 95cm and 105cm.
  • There are rotating cones located at the base of the push button boxes to indicate when it is safe to cross.
  • Upon reaching the central island, turn left and continue ahead towards the second road crossing.
  • The central island surface consists of tarmac.
  • The central island has a slight slope from right to left and mostly even.
  • The second road crossing is similar to the first.

A4217 Crossings to Morfa Retail Park - Restaurants

  • Having crossed, turn left and continue ahead for approximately 10 metres towards the path on the right hand side.
  • Upon reaching the path, turn right onto the slight slope leading down towards the Morfa Retail Park.
  • Follow the slope for approximately 20 metres towards the Morfa Retail Park pathway.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of tarmac and concrete.

Morfa Retail Park - Restaurants to the Outer Concourse

  • Upon reaching the bottom of the slope, turn right and head along the path for approximately 40 metres until you reach the loading area road crossing.
  • The path along this section of the route consists of concrete.
  • This crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • There is a slight slope between the path and the road on the near side.
  • The far side of the crossing is level with the road.
  • The road surface consists of tarmac.
  • There are no visual signals available at this crossing.
  • Having crossed continue ahead for approximately 40 metres towards the outer concourse access road crossing.
  • This crossing has dropped kerbs on both sides.
  • This crossing has tactile paving on the near side.
  • The road surface consists of tarmac.
  • Having crossed, continue either left or right onto the outer concourse.
  • On match days the path is congested during the build up to kick off.
  • On the right hand side of the path there is a Frankie and Bennys restaurant and a Harvester. These are used by home and away supporters before the match.

Outer Concourse

  • The outer concourse has a concrete surface and is step-free throughout. All stands are accessible via the outer concourse.
  • On matchdays there are independent food stalls and mobile counters selling match day programmes located around the concourse. The Jacks Fan Zone is located on the concourse at the corner of the South Stand- Family Stand.
  • All entrances into the stadium have step-free access.
  • There are Braille and tactile maps of the stadium located on all corners of the concourse. There are bollards located across the walkway as it passes in front of the main reception entrance.
  • Clear directional signage is provided on the concourse.
  • There is a stadium plan/map on the concourse.
  • There is a steward/member of staff available for assistance on matchdays.
