Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • You can drive up close to the entrance of Burlington House by entering the courtyard from Piccadilly. However there is only parking for 2 Blue Badge holders which have to be booked at least a week in advance.
    • To book one of the Blue Badge parking bays please call 020 7300 8028.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the venue.
    • There are four bus route stops on Piccadilly: Nos. 14, 19, 22 and 38.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest Railway Station is Charing Cross.
    • Charing Cross Station is located 0.8 miles from the Royal Academy.
  • By Underground View
    • The nearest underground station is Piccadilly Circus.
    • The nearest tube stations are Piccadilly Circus (on the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines) and Green Park (on the Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines). Both stations are approximately 0.3 miles from the Royal Academy. Oxford Circus and Bond Street are the nearest tube stations on the Central Line. Both stations are approximately 0.7 miles away.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • British Sign Language interpreters can be provided on request.
  • The alternative formats documents can be provided in include: large print.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact the cloakroom staff in the foyer.
  • For those who would like assistance, a trained volunteer escort can be provided. To book an escorted visit, contact the RA's Access Team. Please allow 2 weeks notice for your booking as this is a volunteer service. To find out more about the RA’s dedicated programmes and services for disabled audiences, please visit the website or contact them directly.
  • The RA organise audio described tours and handling sessions for all their major exhibitions. If you are unable to attend these, recordings of these tours are available on their website. Trained volunteers can also offer descriptive tours of an exhibition.
  • For hearing impaired visitors, the RA organise talks and gallery tours in British Sign Language and in spoken word with speech-to-text transcription. For hearing impaired children, Art Detective worksheets are available for all exhibitions from the Information Desk.
  • Every year a number of sculptures in the Summer Exhibition are available to be explored by touch. They are identified by a list available online and within the Large Print Guides in the galleries.

Approach - Burlington House

  • The vehicular entrance has only an easy slope and retractable bollards but pedestrians are discouraged from using it.
