View
- The Alan Turing Building is a large building with five floors.
The building is arranged around a central atrium. - There are two lifts and two staircases within the building.
Only one of the two lifts, and one of the two staircases (Stair 1) goes to floor 4. - The floors are signed as G for ground floor, 1 for first floor, 2 for second floor, and so on.
This is slightly different in the lifts where the control buttons are marked 0 instead of ground floor. - View information on Alan Turing Building.

Getting Inside
- The approach to the building is level.
- There are barriers off Rumford Street with a width restriction of 103cm.
- There is a single accessible entrance to the building.
- The accessible entrance is not named (signed Alan Turing Building).
- There are three sets of doors into the building.
There is step-free level access to the ground floor from the entrance doors.
Getting Around
- The building is open plan without any doors in general circulation areas.
There is step-free level access via lift throughout the building. - There are elevated walkways crossing the atrium from the first floor upwards.
- There are push pad activated doors from the lift lobby to the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics on the third floor.
- There is only key card access to the fourth floor.

Entrance (Accessible Entrance)
- This entrance is located towards the end of the walkway between the Alan Turing Building and the Henry Royce Institute Building.
- The entrance area is clearly signed.

- There is a key fob/card reader at a height of 75cm.
- There is a single automatic door at this entrance.

Entrance (Main Atrium)
- This entrance is located on the left after the second set of doors at the accessible entrance, or straight ahead after the revolving doors.

- There is step-free access via a very easy ramp or slope at the entrance.
- There are double automatic doors at this entrance.
- The doors open towards you.

Lift
- The lift surveyed is located on the right after the main entrance.
- The distance from the main entrance is 4m.
- The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access.
- The ground floor, and floors 1, 2, and 3 are accessed by this lift.
- The lift door has a high colour contrast.
- The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
- The external lift control buttons have tactile markings and a high colour contrast.
- All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
