Access To
- The Student Support Hub and Library is located at the opposite side to the building entrance on the ground floor.
- View information on Humanities Bridgeford Street (opens new tab) .
- The most accessible route has a slight ramp or slope and shiny flooring.
- The ramp has a slight gradient.
- The ramp is over 150cm wide with handrails on both sides.
- The ramp bypasses the steps.
- There are 3 steps with handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The steps are unmarked.
- The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
- The height of the highest step is 15cm.
- The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into the Student Support Hub and Library.
- There are double automatic doors which open towards you.
- The width of the opening is 170cm.
- The doors have a high colour contrast.
- There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 100cm.
Counter (Student Support Hub)
- The counter is located straight ahead after entering.
- The distance from the Student Support Hub and Library entrance is 2m.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 93cm.
- There is a lowered section at the counter.
- The height of the lowered section is 76cm.
- The counter has windows which may affect the ability of someone to lip read.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.
Library
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: Once you have gone down the ramp from the Student Support Hub counter there is step-free level access throughout the Library.
- There is some room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the seating area.
- Some flooring is patterned.
- The walls and floor have a high colour contrast.
- Seating available in the library includes: chairs with armrests, armchairs and benches.
- Furniture available in the library includes: tables, coffee tables, desks and booths.
- Some chairs and tables are fixed.
- The surface height of some of the tables is suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear height under some of the tables is suitable for wheelchair users.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- The touchscreen has the following accessibility aids: large text.
- When made accessible the height of the touchscreen display ranges from 100cm to 122cm from the floor.
