Getting to the Room (1002)

  • The average walking time to the room is 2 minutes.
  • From the reception desk, take a right and head past the lifts. Continue straight on through fire doors and into the room corridor. Room 1002 is on the left hand side.
  • The most accessible route to the room has step-free level access and manual doors.
  • The majority of walkway widths on the route to the room are between 120cm and 180cm.
  • Some flooring on the route is shiny and patterned.

Room (1002)

  • All rooms with adaptations for disabled people are similar to the one surveyed.
  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The room door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast.
  • The room door opening is 80cm wide.
  • The bed type is double.
  • The top of the mattress is 55cm from the floor.
  • The space under the bed is 2cm high.
  • Furniture can be moved to enable a turning space (150cm x 150cm) next to the bed .
  • There is low pile carpet.
  • The flooring is shiny.
  • Seating in the room includes: chairs without armrests.
  • The following adaptations are available: plug sockets at a recommended height (between 40cm - 100cm), bedside plug sockets and light switches at a recommended height (between 75cm - 120cm).
  • The following adaptations are not available: a desk at a recommended height (between 72cm - 76cm).
  • The room does not have a fridge.
  • The room does have an emergency alarm.
  • The room does not have a flashing fire alarm.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the room floor.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal room door.
  • Balcony / Terrace View
    • There is a terrace. The door has a small threshold and is over 75cm wide .
    • The terrace has: a coffee table and chairs with armrests.
  • Living Area View
    • Seating in the room includes: a sofa.
    • There is low pile carpet.
    • Furniture in the room includes: a coffee table.

Ensuite (1002 - Right Hand Transfer)

  • The ensuite door slides open and has an opening width of 120cm.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to turn in the ensuite (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is no lateral transfer space next to the toilet, as it is obstructed .
  • There is hard flooring.
  • The toilet seat is 50cm from the floor.
  • There is no dropdown rail.
  • Grab rails in the ensuite include: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a horizontal grab rail at the shower.
  • Fixtures that are in reach from the toilet include: the toilet roll holder.
  • Fixtures that are out of reach from the toilet include: the wash basin and the soap dispenser.
  • The taps are lever mixer.
  • The ensuite does have an emergency alarm.
  • The ensuite does not have a flashing fire alarm.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door, all grab rails, the dropdown rail, the floor and the toilet seat.
  • The ensuite has: a wheel-in shower.
  • There is a turning space in the shower for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is an adjustable, detachable shower head at a recommended height (between 105cm - 185cm) and a fixed height shower head.
  • There is no shower seat.
  • There is a dropdown rail for the shower.
