Resort Information

  • The hotel is located in Santa Maria.
  • This resort has the following facilities: rooms with some adaptations for disabled people, a toilet with some adaptations for disabled people, a shop, a spa, beach access, a playground, a gym, a swimming pool, a splash park, a water park and a fitness suite.   • The shop has room to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • Toilet and changing facilities available include: toilets with some adaptations for disabled people, standard toilets and standard changing rooms.
  • Toilet facilities with some adaptations for disabled people can be found within the main building close to main reception, in the outbuilding close to Outdoor Pool 3, within Praia Buffet Restaurant and within Splash Water World.
  • Standard toilet facilities can be found within the main building close to main reception, in the outbuilding close to Outdoor Pool 3, within Praia Buffet Restaurant, within Splash Water World, within the Renova Spa changing areas and in the entertainment area (Cimboa).
  • Baby change facilities can be found within all of the toilets with adaptations for disabled users.
  • The resort has the following available: a pool hoist.
  • There is a medication fridge available on request.
  • Guests cannot hire mobility equipment from the resort.

  • Guests can bring food for assistance dogs which can be stored in the mini fridge.
  • This resort is not aware of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.

Getting Around the Resort

  • The resort has step free level access throughout.
  • The paths around the resort are made from: tiles, concrete and block paving.
  • There is no seating along the pathways.
  • All the paths are illuminated.
  • There are buggies available for all guests, which are used to overcome the distance to the room.
  • Wheelchair users will need to transfer into the buggies.

Entrance

  • The entrance to the resort is located at the front of the main building.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance to the resort.
  • There are automatic doors at the entrance, which open by sliding.
  • The width of the door opening is 240cm.
  • The doors have a low colour contrast.

Reception

  • There is step-free level access to reception.
  • Lighting levels are good at this reception.
  • The reception desk is too high for a wheelchair user.
  • The reception does not have a hearing assistance system.
  • There is hard flooring.
  • The flooring is shiny.
  • There are sofas, stools, coffee tables and chairs with armrests available in this reception area.
  • There is space for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the reception area.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise.

Counter (Customer Services)

  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • Lighting levels are good at this counter.

  • There are chairs without armrests available in the counter area.

Seating (Lobby)

  • The seating includes: armchairs, bench seats, sofas, chairs with armrests and chairs without armrests.
  • The tables are not suitable for wheelchair users (between 70cm - 80cm and free from obstruction).
  • The flooring is not shiny or patterned.
  • The flooring outside is hard.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise.
  • There are 2 sets of double automatic doors leading out from the lobby area to the external seating area. Both sets of doors are permanently held open.

Getting Around the Building

  • This building contains restaurants, a shop, a main reception and a bar.
  • The following areas have step-free level access: the main reception, customer service desk, Daiquiri Bar, Cappuccino Café, the shop, La Pappardella Restaurant, Dorayaki Restaurant, Krystal Restaurant, Palmeira Restaurant, adapted toilet facilities and standard toilet facilities.
  • The following areas do not have step-free access: internal seating areas in the main lobby.
  • There is hard flooring.
  • Some flooring is shiny.
  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm, with high colour contrast between the walls and floor.

Toilet with Adaptations for Disabled People (Main Reception - Right Hand Transfer)

  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the toilet door.
  • The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 100cm.
  • The toilet door has a twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 225cm x 329cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the toilet as you look at it.
  • The lateral transfer space is 131cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
  • There is a push button flush on the wall above the cistern.
  • There is a dropdown rail on both sides of the seat.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: a toilet roll holder on the dropdown rail.
  • The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: the wash basin, the soap dispenser and hand dryer.
  • The following fixtures are at the recommended height: the soap dispenser (between 80cm - 100cm).
  • The following fixtures are not at a recommended height: the toilet seat (not at 48cm), the toilet roll holder (not between 80cm - 100cm), the wash basin (not between 72cm - 74cm), hand dryer (not between 80cm - 100cm) and the baby changing facility (not at 75cm).
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • Lighting levels are low in the cubicle.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the floor, the internal toilet door and both dropdown rails.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the toilet seat.
  • There is no emergency alarm.
  • The toilet has a mirror which has been angled for ease of use.
  • There is no shelf in the toilet.
  • The cubicle has a waste bin without lid.
  • There are no coat hooks.
  • There is a baby change facility which is not at a recommended height (75cm).

Toilet (Main Reception)

  • The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • The toilet door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 81cm.
  • The width of the door into the toilet cubicle is not over 75cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • There are standard showers available within the male and female standard toilets.
