Getting Inside
- The approach to the building is step-free and level.
- Chadwick Building has three external entrances.
- The main entrance has step-free access via ramp (that bypasses the steps) to the ground floor and double manual doors permanently held open followed by a single automatic door.
- The North Staircase entrance has level access with double manual doors permanently held open. There is stepped access beyond the doors.
- The South East entrance has a step-free level entrance with double manual doors permanently held open.
- The Chadwick Building can also be accessed from South Wing on the ground and first floors. The ground floor entrance consists of a set of double doors that open away from you followed by four clearly marked 20cm steps with a handrail on the left when you go up the steps.
- The first floor entrance is level and has two single doors, the first door is manual and the second door is automatic.
- The entrances are not named. They are signed as Chadwick Building, North Staircase and Chadwick Building South East Entrance.
- The most accessible entrance provides step-free access to the reception foyer on the ground floor via a steep ramp.
Getting Around
- There is step-free level access via lift throughout the majority of the building.
- There are 6 clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides to access rooms G.04 and G.06 from the main entrance.
- There are 8 clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides to access the ground floor mezzanine floor which contains rooms GM05 to GM17.
- There are an additional 2 steps with a handrail on the left to reach GM13 to GM17.
- In the basement there is a ramp with handrails on both sides at the approach to Room B0.5.
- There are 3 well marked steps with handrails on both sides outside Room B0.5.
- There are 3 well marked steps with handrails on both sides to access the standard toilets in the basement.
- On floor 1 there is a slight ramp with no handrails outside room 1.19.
- There are 6 clearly marked steps on floor 2 with a handrail on the right to access room 2.21.
- Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish.
- There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
- Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
- There are manual doors and some automatic doors along circulation routes throughout the building.

Entrance (Main)
- This entrance is located at the front of the building.

- The ramp has a steep gradient.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide with a handrail on the right going up.
- The ramp bypasses the steps.

- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.

Entrance (South East)
- This entrance is located at the rear of the building opposite the quad.

- The doors are permanently held open.
- The width of the opening is 140cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
- The doors have a high visual contrast.
- There is a second single automatic door.
- The second door opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 97cm.
- The second door has a low visual contrast.
- There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 95cm.
- This entrance gives access to Rooms G04 and G06 via 6 clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides, to the ground floor of the building.
- The South East entrance also provides access to Rooms G07 and G08.
Reception (CEGE)
- The reception is located on the right as you enter via the main entrance.
- The distance from the main entrance is 10m.
- The most accessible route to reception has manual doors.
- There is step-free level access to reception.
- The height of the reception desk is 72cm.
- There is not a lowered section at the desk.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.
