COVID-19 Information

  • The information in this section was taken in January 2021.
  • Most University food outlets are now shut in line with government guidance.
  • Opening times of areas are under constant review given the number of people on campus and government guidance.
  • External queuing systems are located outside the Fresh Shop and Student Services.
  • All buildings have entrances and exits via separate doors to assist with social distancing.
  • Hand sanitising stations are at the entrance to all buildings and in each room used for study spaces.
  • There is a limited number of people allowed inside.
  • The number of people permitted in each room is signed on the door to that space.
  • Clearly signed one way systems have been set up both internally and externally around the campus.
  • There should be no more than one person in the lift at any time.
  • Floor markings and wall signs have been installed to remind people to keep 2m apart.
  • Protective screens have been installed across the university.
  • Some urinals and cubicles in toilets have been closed to assist with social distancing.
  • All showers are available, but the number of people permitted in them is indicated by a sign on the door.
  • All staff, students and visitors are expected to wear face masks when inside buildings, unless they are in a single office.

Brendon Court to the Access Road Crossing

  • There is a path leading from Brendon Court to the access road crossing.
  • The surface of the path is block paving which is uneven in places.
  • After approximately 20m along the path turn left.
  • The surface of the path when turned changes to smooth tarmac. It is slightly uneven where the surface changes.
  • There is an easy slope leading towards the access road crossing. The gradient increases slightly as you get towards the bottom.
  • Follow the path to the left towards the crossing. There are bollards here, limiting the width of the path to 104cm. The path surface is slightly uneven just beyond the bollards.

Access Road Crossing

  • There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides of the crossing.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac.
  • Turn left after crossing.

Access Road Crossing to the Parade

  • There is a path leading from the access road crossing to the Parade.
  • The surface of the path starts off as concrete.
  • It is uneven in places, and there is an easy slope after approximately 4m leading down to the service road to the rear of 1 West North. The path here is 115cm wide.
  • Turn right on to the service road, with the 1 West North building located on the right.
  • The surface of the path now becomes smooth tarmac, with drain covers in places. This path has a very slight gradient leading up.
  • After approximately 31m there is an easy ramp or 2 clearly marked medium height steps. The steps have tactile paving at the top and bottom.
  • The ramp bypasses the steps and both have handrails on both sides.
  • The surface from the ramp onwards is block paving with drain covers. After approximately 22m, the path has a sight gradient leading upwards. At the top, there is a thin line of drain covers followed by a small area of tarmacked shingle as you join The Parade.

The Parade to the Library

  • The surface of the Parade area leading to the Library is made up of large flag stones which are uneven in places.
  • After approximately 13m on the Parade turn left and then continue straight for 20m.
  • The library is located on the left.

Outside Access (Main Entrance)

  • This information is for the entrance located at the front of the building.
  • There is level access into the venue.
  • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
  • The door(s) is / are double.
  • The width of the door opening is 190cm (6ft 3in).
  • Second set of doors View
    • There is a second set of doors.
    • The door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 190cm (6ft 3in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.

    • The entry doors are on the left as you face the front of the building and the exit is on the right.
