Access Guide
Access To
- Lecture Theatre 2 is located in the East wing of the Chemistry building, to the left of the Estates Assistants desk after you enter the building, via the main entrance.

- The most accessible route has step-free level access, manual doors, doors permanently held open, shiny flooring and patterned flooring.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into Lecture Theatre 2.
- There are double automatic doors which open towards you.
- The push pad for the automatic doors is at a height of 94cm.
- The width of the opening is 143cm.
- The doors have a high visual contrast.
- There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 92cm.
- There are two similar sets of doors to enter the lecture theatre, one on the left and one on the right.
Teaching
- This is a lecture theatre.
- There is step-free level access to the back row only.
- The following areas have stepped access: all other areas apart from the back row.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- Some flooring is shiny.
- Floor coverings are even with no trip hazards.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
- There is tiered seating with no handrails at the steps.
- There are designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- The designated spaces for wheelchair users are located in the back row.
- There is step-free level access to the designated space surveyed.
- Companions sit next to you and behind you.

Designated Seating
- The designated seating area surveyed is located via the right hand door into the lecture theatre, then to the right after you have entered the lecture theatre.
- The distance from the right hand door into the lecture theatre is 3m.
- There is step-free level access to the designated seating.
- The width of the opening is 132cm.
- The designated seating area is not clearly marked or signed .
- There are 2 designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- The view from this seating area is clear from obstructions.
- Companions sit next to you and behind you.
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in this area includes: chairs without armrests.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey, with unshaded light sources.
- There is a toilet with adaptations close to the seating area (within approximately 50m).
