Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free and level.
  • Minerology Building has 1 entrance which provides step-free level access. There are double manual doors at the entrance.
  • The entrance is not signed.
  • The main entrance provides step-free level access to the ground floor lobby area.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access to the majority of the building.
  • On Level G there is a steep slope to access the Tilley Lecture Theatre.
    On Level G there is a slight ramp to access the Rock Workshop, Engineering Workshop, the Minerology Lab and staff offices.
  • Access to room 113, on Level 1, is via 4 unmarked steps with no handrails.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish.
  • There are no resting areas in the circulation or lobby areas.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout some of the building.

Entrance

  • This entrance is located at the rear left of the building.

Lift

  • The lift surveyed is located in the middle of the building.
  • The distance from the main entrance is 5m.
  • The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access.
  • The ground floor and floors 1, 2, 3 and 4 are accessed by this lift.
  • The lift door has a high visual contrast.
  • The lift does not have a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • The external lift control buttons have a high visual contrast and tactile markings.
  • All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The lift door opening width is 75cm.
  • The internal dimensions of the lift are 108cm (width) x 85cm (depth).
  • The internal lift control buttons have a medium visual contrast and tactile markings.
  • The majority of the internal controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

Stairs

  • The handrail covers the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrail does not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
