Access Guide
Access To
- Lecture Theatre 1 is located on Level 1 of the Judge Business School, at the south side of the building. The front of the lecture theatre is accessed from Level 1, and the rear from Level 2. Both levels are accessed from the South Lift.
- The entrance on Level 2 leading to the rear of the lecture theatre has push pad automatic doors. Please see the separate entrance section for more details.

- The most accessible route has step-free level access, a lift, manual doors and shiny flooring.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into the lecture theatre.
- There are double manual doors which open towards you.

Teaching
- This is a lecture theatre.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have stepped access: all seating beyond the back row.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- Some flooring is shiny.
- Floor coverings are not even and could potentially cause a trip hazard.
- The walls and floor visual contrast varies between low and high.
- Lighting levels vary due to the size of the space.
- Lighting levels are adjustable.
- There is tiered seating with no handrails at the steps.
- There is a designated space for a wheelchair user.
- The designated space for a wheelchair user is located at the rear of the lecture theatre.

Entrance (Level 2 Entrance)
- This entrance is located on Level 2, straight ahead after the South Lift.
- The entrance area is not clearly signed.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single automatic door at this entrance.
- The door has a locked extension leaf.
- The door opens towards you.
- There is a push pad at a height of 98cm.
- The width of the opening is 88cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
- The door has a high visual contrast.
- There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 100cm.
- There is a second single automatic door.
- The second door opens towards you.
- The push pad for the automatic doors is at a height of 100cm.
- The width of the opening is 79cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
- The second door has a high visual contrast.
- There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 98cm.
- There is step-free level access as you enter.
- There is a 3rd automatic door to enter the lecture theatre. The entry push pad is at a height of 98cm. It is a single width, automatic door with a minimum width of 90cm. The exit push pad is at a height of 98cm. There is a small raised threshold at the door. After the 2nd door there is a sharp turn to the left, where the corridor is 110cm at its narrowest. At the time of the survey (29/7/24) there was a bin in the corridor that narrows it further to 71cm wide.
