- The Faculty of Classics (Classics Stage 1) is a medium-sized building with 2 floors.

Getting Inside
- The approach to the building is step-free level.
- The Faculty of Classics (Classics Stage 1) building has one entrance, the main entrance, which provides step-free level access to the ground floor. There are two sets of push-pad activated double automatic doors at this entrance.
- The main entrance is signed as "Faculty of Classics".
- The main entrance provides step-free level access to the Enquiries reception and ground floor of the building.
- There is internal step-free level access between Classics Stage 1 and Classics Stage 2 and 3, via the link bridge on the first floor. This has a single automatic door, which opens towards you when entering from Classics Stage 2 and 3. The door has an opening width of 97cm, a high colour contrast, and is push-pad activated. The push pads from both directions are 94cm high.
Getting Around
- There is step-free level access throughout the building on both floors, but access between the floors within this building is via stairs only. Lift access is only possible via the lift in Classics Stage 2 and 3, and then entering this building via the link bridge.
- Floor surfaces along circulation routes consist of shiny tiled flooring, low pile and deep pile carpet.
- There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
- Wall-mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
- There are manual doors along some circulation corridors throughout the building.

- The reception is located to the right, between the first and second sets of doors at the main entrance.
- The distance from the main entrance (first set of doors) is 5m.
- There is step-free level access to reception.
- The height of the reception desk is 75cm.
- The reception has glazed screens.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.
- There is deep pile carpet in some areas.

Stairs (Main Stairs)
- The stairs surveyed are located diagonally to the left as you enter through the main entrance.
- The ground floor and first floor can be accessed by these stairs.

- The steps have low visual contrast markings and have handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.

To the right, they access Rooms 1.02-1.19 and 2.03-2.13, and have a handrail on the right going up only. Due to the high amount of natural light on the stairs, lighting levels may vary depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
