Access To
- The accessible entrance to the Marshall Library of Economics is on the first floor of The Faculty side of the building.

- The most accessible route has step-free level access, a stair lift and automatic doors.
- There is no signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into the library.
- There is a single automatic door which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 93cm.
- The door has a medium visual contrast.
- There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 100cm.
- There is a second single automatic door which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 92cm.
- The second door has a medium visual contrast.
- There is also a stepped entrance into the library from the upper ground floor/mezzanine level within the Marshall Library side of the building.
The height of the highest step is 17cm.
Reception
- The reception is located on the first floor, straight ahead from The Faculty entrance to the library.
- The distance from the entrance to the library is 10m.
- The most accessible route to reception has narrow walkways.
- There is step-free level access to reception.
- The height of the reception desk is 96cm.
- There is a lowered section at the desk.
- The height of the lowered section is 78cm.
- The reception has patterned/distracting backgrounds.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.

Library
- There is not step-free level access throughout the library.
- The following areas have stepped access: the library gallery area on the third floor of the Marshall Library side of the building.
- Access throughout the library may include narrow walkways and narrow openings.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the seating area.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Seating available in the library includes: chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests, armchairs and high stools.
- Furniture available in the library includes: tables and high tables.
- Some chairs and tables are fixed.
- Some surface heights are suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of some surfaces is suitable for wheelchair users.
- Lighting levels vary due to the use of large glazed walls.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- Auxiliary aids available in this library include: document holders and headsets.

Lift
- The lift surveyed is located at the left hand steps facing away from the entrance to the library.
- This lift is a stair lift.
- The distance from the entrance to the library is 15m.
- The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access and narrow walkways.
- The lower and upper floors of the lower level of the library are accessed by this lift.
- The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
- The external lift control buttons have a high visual contrast.
- All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The internal dimensions of the lift are 80cm (width) x 126cm (depth).

Stairs
- The stairs surveyed are located within the upper level of the library.
- The upper level of the library and the upper level gallery can be accessed by these stairs.
- There are 17 steps between floors.
- The steps are clearly marked .
- The handrails are not easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
- The height of the highest step is 16cm.
- The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
- Lighting levels vary due to the size of the space.
- There are 2 staircases each with 3 flights.
The first 2 flights of each staircase have handrails which switch sides.
The third flight of each staircase has handrails on both sides.
There is also a spiral staircase at the far end of the library to access the upper level gallery.
