Access To
- The Theo Chalmers Lecture Theatre is located on Level 2 of the School of Clinical Medicine building and at the very end of the main corridor.

- The most accessible route has step-free level access, a steep ramp or slope and doors permanently held open.
- There is written text signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free access via slope enter the front of Theo Chalmers Lecture Theatre.
- The ramp has a steep gradient.
- The ramp is over 150cm wide with no handrails.
- The slope bypasses the steps.
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The door has a locked extension leaf.
- The width of the opening is 77cm.
- The door has a medium visual contrast.
- There is an alternate stepped entrance at the very end of the School of Clinical Medicine corridor.
This stepped entrance has 4 steps each being 17cm high and the doors open manually towards you and are 156cm wide.
Teaching
- This is a lecture theatre.
- There is step-free level access to the speaker’s area and front row only.
- The following areas have stepped access: the staggered seating.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- Floor coverings are even with no trip hazards.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Lighting levels were uneven at the time of the survey, with pools of light and shade.
- There is tiered seating with no handrails at the steps.
- There are no designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- There is not space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in the room includes: chairs without armrests.
- Furniture available in the room includes: desks.
- All tables and some chairs are fixed.
- The surface heights are not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of the surfaces is suitable for wheelchair users.
- The height of the lectern is 95cm.
