Introduction

  • This route is from the Student Car Park (Car Par 1) to the Atrium where the main reception is located.
  • The route covers the car park, the road crossing, the pathway and the ramp and steps that lead to the front entrance of the Atrium.

Student Car Park - Car Park 1

  • There are 3 marked Bays for Blue Badge holders in the Students Car Park.
  • The bays are 280cm x 390cm.
  • The nearest bay is 6m from the pedestrian crossing and the furthest bay is 10m from the pedestrian crossing.
  • The nearest bay is 53m from the Atrium main entrance and the furthest bay is 57m from the Atrium main entrance.
  • Bays do not have to be booked in advance.
  • Blue Badge holders must display the badge and do not have to pay a fee. All other users pay.
  • There are numerous end of row bays throughout the car park allowing additional space for access.

Ramped Exit from Student Car Park

  • The ramped exit from the Student Car Park is adjacent to the Blue Badge bays and has tactile paving.
  • The tactile paved area is 350cm x 250cm.
  • There are 2 bollards 60cm high located midway along the path, to the side of the paved area.

Pedestrian Crossing 1 - Student Car Park

  • The crossing is of tarmac and is clearly marked in white stripes. The crossing surface is slightly higher than the roadway.
  • The crossing measures 350cm x 400cm.

Tactile Paving - Pedestrian Crossing

  • There are tactile paved areas on both sides of the pedestrian crossing.
  • The tactile paved area on both sides of the pedestrian crossing is 200cm x 350cm and the kerb is level with the crossing surface.

Stepped Exit from Student Car Park

  • There is a stepped exit from the Student Car Park

Pedestrian Crossing 2 - Student Car Park

  • The crossing is tarmac and is clearly marked in white stripes.
  • The crossing measures 350cm x 400cm with tactile paving both sides of the road. The tactile paving on the car park side is a narrow strip of corduroy paving between the bottom of the steps and the roadway.

Path to Atrium

  • The pathway is block paved.
  • It is an easy slope and leads from the edge of the road, past the bus stops towards the front entrance of the Atrium. The slope has no handrails or landings and is 50m long. There are no seating areas along the slope.
  • There is an alternative path from the second crossing. The path is 120cm wide and is an easy slope but has no handrails.
  • There is alternative signposted Blue Badge parking beyond the Multi-Faith Centre.

Slope to the Atrium (Main Entrance)

  • The slope is located to the left of the steps to the Atrium as you face the main entrance from the Student's Car Park and to the left of the marked pathway from the Blue Badge Parking Area.
  • The slope is permanent and has a slight gradient. The surface is concrete paving and is uneven in places.
  • The ramp is 120cm in width and 23m in length.

Steps to Atrium (Main Entrance)

  • There are 9 medium steps that are clearly marked, are medium height and have handrails on both sides going up.
  • These steps can be overcome by using the ramp.

Outside Access (Main Entrance)

  • This information is for the entrance located at the front of the building.
  • There is not level access into the venue.
  • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.

    • The automatic doors are push pad activated.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 160cm (5ft 3in).

    • There are push pads to enter and exit the building.
    • The height of both push pads is 86cm.
    • There is a manual revolving door to the right of the automatic door.
