    The east entrance and changing area entrance both give access to the mezzanine level of the gym.
    The west entrance gives access to the main level of the gym.

Changing Area

  • Changing Area View
    • The male and female changing area were surveyed.
    • The changing area is located in the corridor to the east of the Dreadnought Building on the basement floor, to the left and left again as you exit the east lift.
    • The distance from the east lift is 28m.
    • The most accessible route to the changing area has step-free level access, uneven surfaces, manual doors, doors permanently held open and narrow walkways.
    • There is step-free level access into the changing area.
    • The door opens inwards and has a high visual contrast.
    • The width of the door opening is 80cm.
    • Internally the door has a high visual contrast.
    • Facilities in this area include: toilets, showers, a changing bench and lockers.
    • There are lockers at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
    • Lighting levels were uneven at the time of the survey, with pools of light and shade and unshaded light sources.
    • The toilets and showers are located through separate doors to the changing benches and lockers, but also off the corridor to the east of the Dreadnought Building on the basement floor. These doors all have identical specifications.

    • The ambulant cubicles have horizontal grab rails on both sides.

  • There is step-free level access throughout, this may include the use of a lift.
  • The following areas have stepped access: The mezzanine level, housing the rowing machines, and which is also where the changing area and east lift entrances to the gym are located.
    These steps are bypassed by the lift.
  • Access throughout may include narrow walkways.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • The gym is staffed at specific times.
  • Some flooring is shiny.
  • The walls and floor visual contrast varies between low and high.
  • There is some clear manoeuvring space between equipment (150cm x 150cm).

Lift (Platform Lift - Mezzanine Level to Main Level)

  • The lift surveyed is located immediately to the right as you enter the gym via the west entrance to the gym, between the main and mezzanine levels of the gym.

  • The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access and manual doors.
  • The main and mezzanine levels within the gym are accessed by this lift.

  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).

Changing Room with Adaptations (Shared - Right Hand Transfer)

    • The changing room surveyed is located to the left as you enter the gym through the west entrance, or straight ahead as you exit the platform lift within the gym on the main gym level, after entering through the east or changing room entrance.
    • The distance from the east lift is 7m.
    • The most accessible route to the changing room has step-free level access, manual doors and narrow walkways.
    • There is step-free level access into the changing room.
    • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
    • The door opens outwards and has a medium visual contrast.
    • The width of the door opening is 94cm.
    • The door has a lever twist lock.
    • Internally the door has a high visual contrast.
    • There is a grab rail on the internal door with a medium visual contrast.
