Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building from Seymour Court, Aragon Court and Tudor Court is step-free and level.
  • The approach to the building from the Mary Seacole Building, David Fussey Building, Boleyn Court and Howard Court is step-free (via slight slopes).
  • The Dome Building has one entrance, which provides step-free access (via a steep ramp which bypasses the steps) to the building. There are two sets of single automatic doors at this entrance.
  • The entrance is signed as "The Dome".
  • The entrance provides step-free access (via a steep ramp which bypasses the steps) to The Dome Foyer.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the single storey building.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are comprised of shiny tiles, with a small low-pile carpeted area between the two sets of doors at the entrance.
  • There are resting areas in circulation and lobby areas throughout the building, with a mixture of seating.
  • Wall-mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are no doors along any circulation routes within the building.

    • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
    • The toilet with adaptations is located to the right as you enter The Dome Building, then to the right again.
    • The toilet with adaptations has a right hand transfer space.
    • The male and female step-free toilet facilities are located to the right as you enter The Dome Building, then to the right again.
    • There is a cubicle in both the standard male and female toilets which is larger and has a door that opens outwards, but which has no other ambulant features (including no grab rails).
  • Changing Places and Changing Facilities View
    • Parent and baby changing facilities are located within the toilet with adaptations.

Parking (South Car Park)

  • Car Park View
    • The car park is located to the rear of the David Fussey Building, on the south side of the campus.
    • The car park is open air/surface.
    • The car park surface consists of tarmac.
    • There are 4 designated Blue Badge parking bays available.
    • The Blue Badge bays are clearly marked and signposted.
    • The surveyed Blue Badge parking bay dimensions are 250cm (width) x 450cm (depth).
    • There is a marked zone to both sides and rear.
    • The width of the marked zone is 130cm.
    • The nearest designated bay is 179m from the entrance.
    • The most accessible route from the Blue Badge parking has a very easy ramp or slope and slight ramps or slopes.

  • Charges and Restrictions View
    • This car park is for staff, students, visitors and Blue Badge holders only.
    • Parking is not free for all users.
    • Parking is free for Blue Badge holders.
    • Clearly presented parking signs are available.
    • Payment machines are located on the campus, outside the Mary Seacole Building.
    • There is not a payment machine with controls at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

    • The car park is ANPR controlled. Payment is made at the end of your stay using the on-site machines, in advance using the online booking system, or online by midnight using the Trust app. Please visit the website above for information on the latter two options. Unless booked in advance, Blue Badge holders must enter their registration into the on-site machines or the Trust app to avoid a penalty charge.
  • Drop-off Point View

    • The designated drop-off point is located to the side of the Grey Building.

Entrance

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building, leading in from the outdoor seating area between Seymour Court and Aragon Court.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The ramp has a steep gradient.
  • The ramp is over 150cm wide with a handrail on the right going down.
  • The ramp bypasses the steps.
  • There are 4 steps with handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails are easy to grip.
  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
  • The step markings are not clearly visible.
  • The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
