Central Avenue to Gatehouse Reception

  • Cross North Road. There is a dropped kerb with tactile paving on both sides of the road.
  • Follow the pavement slightly to the right so as to join Central Avenue.
  • The paving is brick tiles.
  • There is a slope with a slight incline.
  • Continue along Central Avenue.
  • There are two driveways with dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
  • You have now reached the Gatehouse Reception.
  • Follow the pavement past the reception. At this point the pavement is 110cm wide.
  • Cross over central Avenue at the crossing. The pedestrian crossing is level with the paving.

Main Entrance to North Road

  • Starting from Pembroke by the roundabout facing towards the Chatham Maritime entrance, head towards the gate.
  • The paving is brick tiles and is even.
  • There is a moderate slope towards the gate.
  • The gate is 150cm wide.
  • It is manual and opens away from you.
  • It is permanently help open.
  • Continue along the pavement, passing the directional signage.
  • There are bollards on your right.
  • Follow the pavement slightly to the left until you reach North Road.

Central Avenue - Pembroke

  • Head east along Central Avenue.
  • The paving is now tarmac and level.
  • There is directional signage for upper campus buildings on the pavement. The Pembroke Building is on your right.
  • Continue along Central Avenue. There is green space with benches on your right. This can be accessed via 5 unmarked steps with a depth of 17cm.

Central Avenue - Blake

  • Continue along Central Avenue for approximately 40m until you reach the Blake Building.
  • There is both on street and overhead signage for the Blake Building.
  • For step free access to the Blake Building, please use entrances from the car park which can be accessed via Cumberland Road.

Central Avenue - Nelson

  • Continue along Central Avenue for approximately another 50m until you reach the Nelson Building. There is overhead and on street directional signage. There are 5 unmarked, standard steps to access the side of the building.

Central Avenue - Anson

  • Continue along the pavement for approximately 25m until you reach the junction. Cross the junction.
  • The kerbs have tarmac slopes added for step free access. There is no tactile paving.
  • Continue for another 20m until you reach the Anson Building.

Crossing for Lifts to Lower Campus

  • If you wish to access the lower campus via the lifts, cross Central Avenue using the pedestrian crossing. If you wish to stay in the upper campus, skip to the next section.
  • The crossing to the lifts is level with the pavement.
  • Turn right along central avenue and the lifts are on your left approximately 10m ahead.

Central Avenue - Grenville

  • Continue straight along central avenue for approximately 20m until you reach the junction.
  • The junction has tarmac slopes at the kerbs on both sides. There is no tactile paving.
  • Head approximately another 15m and the Grenville Building is on your right.
  • There is both on street and overhead directional signage for the building.

Central Avenue - Wolfson

  • Continue along Central Avenue for another 35m and the Wolfson Centre is on your right. There is directional signage on the pavement. You have now arrived at the Wolfson Centre.
