Access To
- Pilkington Open Space PK011 is located on the ground floor of the Pilkington Building, on the left hand side of the main atrium as you enter the building through the North Road entrance.

- The most accessible route has step-free level access and shiny flooring.
- There is written text and numbered signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access to enter the Pilkington Open Space PK011.
- There are double manual doors which open both ways.
- The width of the opening is 147cm.
- The doors have a low visual contrast.
- There is an additional entrance to the room located further inside the building opposite the Pilkington Café, also on the left hand side of the main atrium. It has identical specifications to the one described above.
Teaching
- This is a teaching room.
- There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
- The following areas have stepped access: the speaker's area - via 2 medium-height unmarked steps, with open risers and handrails on both sides.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- The flooring is patterned.
- Floor coverings are even with no trip hazards.
- The walls and floor visual contrast varies between low and high.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
- There are designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- The designated spaces for wheelchair users are located at the front and back of the room.
- There is step-free level access to the designated space surveyed.
- Companions sit next to you, behind you and in front of you.
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in the room includes: chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests, riser recliner chairs and stools.
- Furniture available in the room includes: tables and desks.
- The surface heights are not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of the surfaces is not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The height of the speaker's desk/table is 95cm.
- The speaker's desk/table is not height adjustable.
- This room has a television screen, a projector screen and a whiteboard.

There is no hearing loop system, but the speaker's desk is fitted with a microphone, which amplifies their voice through speakers fitted around the room.
- The room has a variable layout and setup, and can be reconfigured into a conference or exhibition space. During term time, it is normally used as a teaching room.
