Introduction

  • Comments View
    • Cornwallis West is included in this guide as does not have its own external entrance.
    • The Cornwallis North West entrance opens onto a foyer, from which there is access to the Cornwallis West ground floor rooms. .
    • There is no lift in this section of the Cornwallis complex. .
    • Step-free access to the first and second floors of Cornwallis North West is using the lift in the foyer of the George Allen Wing. .
    • From the first floor of Cornwallis North West there is ramped access to the first floor of Cornwallis West.
    • Cornwallis West first floor can also be reached through the first floor of Cornwallis South West, using the lift in the Colyer-Fergusson building.

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The building is at the north west corner of the Cornwallis complex of buildings in the centre of the Canterbury Campus.
      This is about 1 mile north of Canterbury City Centre.
      The shared entrance to both buildings is from the walkway facing the Colyer-Fergusson Building or from the Cornwallis Courtyard.
    • The nearest car park is the Central Visitor Car Park, to the west of the Cornwallis complex and the Gulbenkian/ Colyer-Fergusson Buildings.
      This is reached using Library Road off Giles Lane.
      The building also shares a car park for Blue Badge holders only.
      This is located off Darwin Road, behind Cornwallis East.
      From this car park, access to the building is through the walkway into the Cornwallis courtyard.
      This leads to either the Cornwallis North West courtyard entrance for the ground floor rooms or the George Allen Wing entrance to access the lift to the upper floors.
  • By Bus View
    • There are frequent Unibus services linking the University campus with the centre of Canterbury and Canterbury East and West train stations.
      The nearest bus stops are on Giles Lane or Darwin Road.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train station is Canterbury West, to the north of the city centre.
      This is on the line from London to Kent, including Ashford International.
      There is step-free access into the station building.
      There is step-free access to both platforms by lift.
      Staff are available to assist with portable ramps between the platform and the train.
      There are buses linking the city centre with the University campus, with stops about 5 minutes walk from the station.
